Tracheal Shave Surgery In A Non-Transgender Male Patient

This Seattle tracheal shave surgery patient had always been self conscious about his large, prominent Adam's Apple. He wasn't transgender or in the process of transitioning but rather just wanted to reduce the overall fullness and prominence of his voice box. Dr. Lamperti performed a tracheal shave procedure and significantly reduced the overall laryngeal prominence projection as seen in the 4 month postoperative photos.

Isolated Chondrolaryngoplasty with Vocal Fold Needle Localization

This Seattle Tracheal Shave male to female transgender patient came to Dr. Lamperti looking to have tracheal shave surgery to begin her process of facial feminization. You can see in the patient's preoperative profile photo how there is significantly prominent Adam's Apple. Dr. Lamperti performed intraoperative needle localization of the patient's vocal folds to ensure maximal safe reduction of the patient's laryngeal prominence. In the immediate postoperative photo you can see how a much smoother, feminine appearing neck line was produced during surgery. The additional photographs show the preoperative markings that Dr. Lamperti used for surgery including the incision line which is hidden high up on the neck. The high point of the laryngeal prominence along with the most inferior area of planned shaving are also marked. The last photo shows the dressing that is placed for the first few days after surgery.

Transgender Tracheal Shave and Neck Lift Before And After Photos

This Seattle tracheal shave patient came to Thomas Lamperti, MD looking to achieve a smoother anterior neck and throat as part of her male to female transition. As you can see in the before photos the patient had a quite protrusive laryngeal prominence. Using an incision hidden high up on the neck in a natural skin crease Dr. Lamperti was able to safely remove the excess Adam's Apple tissue in order to create a smoother neckline. Given the patient's pre-existing skin looseness Dr. Lamperti also performed a compensatory necklift in which he tightened the underlying neck muscles and remove a conservative amount of neck skin at the original incision line. Given the patient's age the thyroid cartilage was actually quite calcified so modified cartilage reduction techniques were used to reduce the thyroid cartilage fullness. In the 4 month after photos you can see how this patient now has an smoother throat and less noticeable Adam's Apple given better balance to her overall proportions. You can also see that there are no signs of drooping, excess neck skin.

Before and After Thyroid Cartilage Reduction with Needle Localization

This transgender female patient came to Dr. Lamperti looking to smooth down her Adam's Apple prominence. As you can see in the before photos she had a quite prominent laryngeal prominence and she hoped to smooth the area to further feminize her appearance. In the 3 month after photos you can see how the patient neck is much smoother and how her scar is easily hidden even at this early stage in the scar healing process. Even the frontal view has improved as the laryngeal prominence no longer creates the tell-tale shadowing in the area.

Tracheal Shave To Remove Adam's Apple Before and After Photos

This male to female transgender patient wanted to smooth her prominent Adam's Apple to further enhance her feminine features. Dr. Lamperti performed a tracheal shave procedure using a small incision at the top of her neck to create a smoother neck contour. He also used the intraoperative needle localization technique to pinpoint where the vocal cords insert into the voice box to avoid any vocal cord injury. In the 3 month after photos you can see a much more feminine neck line and reduced laryngeal prominence. The incision line is also very hard to see already and will continue to fade over the first year to year and a half after surgery.

Male To Female Transgender Tracheal Shave Before And After Photos

This Seattle MTF transgender patient came to Dr. Lamperti to address her overly prominent laryngeal prominence which detracted from her facial feminization. Dr. Lamperti performed a chondrolaryngoplasty with needle localization technique which allow him to smooth down the patient's large Adam's apple. In the 8 month after photos you can see how the patient has a much flatter neckline and no more Adam's apple bump which gives her a much more feminine appearance. You can also see how the scar is well hidden high up on the neck.
